There was Fuigo Festival at the Yasukuni Shrine on November 11. This was held by Kanto Branch of the All Japan Swordsmith Association NBTHK.
A temporary bellows was built in the ground of the shrine then a Shinto ritual was performed there and many people observed it. In the afternoon, many sword collectors and visitors tried sword forging (orikaeshi-tanren or folding and hammering).
Material which was forged on the day was finished by a swordsmith Kawasaki Akihira as tanto then the tanto is due to be dedicated to the shrine in the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration.
